Overview
To allow other meeting participants to hear you in a Zoom Meeting, you will need to choose how you would like to join audio for the meeting. There are two ways to join the audio, joining via computer and joining via telephone. This article will show you how to join your computer audio and test that it is working.

- Microphone, such as the built in microphone, a USB microphone or an inline microphone on headphones
- Speaker or headphones

To test before a meeting
When Joining a Meeting
When joining a meeting, if you haven't selected to always join audio by computer, a prompt will appear.
- To test your speaker and microphone, click Test Computer Mic & Speakers.
- This will open your audio settings.
During a Meeting
You can access your audio settings and test your audio when you are already in a meeting.
- In the meeting controls, click the arrow next to Mute/Unmute.
- Click Audio Options.
- This will open your audio settings.
Testing your Speaker
- Click Test Speaker to play a sound.
- If you cannot hear it, select a different speaker from the menu or adjust the Output Volume.
Testing your Microphone
- In the microphone section, you will see the green Input Level bar move when Zoom is picking up audio.
- Click Test Mic to test your microphone.
- Your audio will start recording. Click Recording when you are done and it will play back. You can select another microphone from the menu or adjust the input level.
- Check Automatically adjust microphone settings if you want Zoom to adjust the input volume automatically.
Audio Settings
- Automatically adjust microphone: Automatically adjust your microphone input volume based on the sound that Zoom is picking up.
- Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting: Join the computer audio automatically, instead of being prompted on how you want to join the audio each time.
- Always mute microphone when joining a meeting: Always mute your microphone when joining a meeting. You will be able to unmute yourself.
- Do not prompt for joining audio when I join a meeting using 3rd party audio: This option turns off the join audio prompt when joining a meeting, if the meeting has 3rd party audio enabled. Read more about 3rd party audio.
- Enable stereo: Send stereo audio if supported by your microphone. Read more about this setting.
- Allow option for original sound from microphone in meeting: This allows you to send original sound from your microphone, without applying Zoom's audio-enhancing features. Read more about this setting.
